Gelato and Shimmer Tape

This month I am focusing on the Gelato and Shimmer tapes that you may not have noticed in the thread list.  They are some of my favourite creative yarns.  I have used them as backgrounds and texture in which to nestle beads, sequins and dimensional flowers. I have filled them with waste threads or cords to fatten them for purse handles or foundations for jewelry.
You could even include them in modern gold work and stumpwork or thread them into a large Chenille needle and use in the same manner as traditional ribbon work. They would be suitable for teaching your children and grandchildren to embroider when you combine them with basic stitches. There's no limit to the ideas they can be used for.

  Gelato is a knitted hollow tube of rayon thread that can be filled with cords or threads for ruching, couching to add great dimension to your creative textiles. Hand Dyed in America. Sold in a 15mtr. skein.

Colour Streams hand dyed Shimmer Tape is a hollow metallic rayon tube/tape. Fabulous metallic specialty yarn for inserting cord to stiffen the tape then ruche tape along the cord for great effects. 5mt. length.
